So this has been abit of a weird week, for those of you who know me or read my blog regularly you probably know I have a keen interest in fitness and training, for the past 7 or so months I have been working out, for the past few months I’ve been completely committed to hitting all muscle groups once if not twice a week, as a general rule Wednesday through to Sunday are the days I train.
However this week has been a ‘deload week’ (A week where you decrease the weight or volume of your workout to allow a week for your muscles and joints time to fully recover), it is the first one I have ever done as it is something I only recently discovered and seen as I keep injuring myself just recently I thought it would be good to give my muscles a rest. I tried it on Wednesday and it was a horrendous workout, afterwards I felt like I hadn’t even done anything, this has resulted in me skipping the last 2 days of training which is not good.
What I was not expecting was the DRASTIC change in how I feel because I haven’t been training, these past few days I have felt horrific, I’ve felt lethargic, not wanting to get out of bed, struggling to write blog posts, I’ve not been reading, it has just hit me like a truck. This wasn’t even meant to be the topic of today’s post but I just couldn’t concentrate on the topic long enough to write a coherent blog post on the topic.
Reflecting upon this I think that I am going to have to get back into working out tomorrow and do a lot more research into a deload week, possibly consider lifting heavier so I at least feel something while i’m doing it. Honestly I don’t really know what the message is behind this blog post other than don’t skip training as it can apparently your well being quite severely.
Anyway i’m going to leave that one there as I need to head off to work and tomorrow after I’ve done some training I will get cracking on the blog post I was originally going to write today, make sure you tune in for that one on Tuesday as it will be a good one. But for now I am going to leave you with this:
“Focus on thinking forward. Second guessing your previous mistakes still won’t change them”
Thank you ever so much if you read this post especially since there wasn’t much advice given out on this one but I couldn’t leave you guys without some content to check out, I assure you normal posts will be resumed on Tuesday. Please leave a comment if you know much about deload weeks or if you have any advice to offer it would be much appreciated, just goes to show no matter how much you know you are still constantly learning. See you guys on Tuesday. Ciao!
